Choose The Fixture That Best Suits You

by Bob Lucido Team

Choosing the metal finish for hardware and plumbing at the end of a renovation project seems easy enough, right? Wrong! Oftentimes this choice isn’t considered carefully enough, and ends up completely changing the entire look of the space. Check out the most popular choices for metal fixture options and the main differences that set them apart, so you can be sure to choose the right option for your style, space, and budget.

C H R O M E - a silver metal that is durable and affordable. Chrome is on the shinier side and naturally reflects the light that hits it. It’s also gained popularity due to the fact that it resists corrosion and will last for years. However, it does tend to show water spots and fingerprints more than other metal choices.

N I C K E L - a more matte silver finish when treated with a wire brush, nickel has a luxurious feel that hides water spots and fingerprints. It looks best when paired with earth tones and warm palettes. It does tend to  be more pricey than chrome, but it’s not the most expensive of metal options and will stand the test of time. Polished nickel is also a shinier option that looks just like chrome, but requires more maintenance.

B R O N Z E - a fantastic choice if you’re looking to add warmth to a space, bronze comes in many color options, but oil-rubbed bronze is the most popular choice. This bronze is a dark metal with a rustic feel that plays well with an aged Mediterranean or Tuscan-style home. It’s a low-maintenance choice as it will last a long time and hide water spots. It does tend to be a pricier option, though!

B R A S S - if you’re seeking gold accents, brass is for you! Brass is great for a stunning, vintage aesthetic that really grabs your attention. Brass can be bold, so it’s best paired with whites and grays, and also plays off dark blues like navy well.
