2022 is coming to an end, and It’s time to start planning for 2023. Taking the time to make thoughtful goals and define a clear plan for the new year will help hold yourself accountable and set yourself up for success. But how do you do this? Try making a vision board!
Vision Boards:
A vision board is a powerful visualization tool that helps you achieve your goals and dreams. They are composed of goals, photos, quotes, and more that help define your vision for the new year. With 2021 just beginning, it’s a great time to create your own vision board to help hold yourself accountable on achieving your goals and to set yourself up for success in 2021.
You can create a print vision board by cutting out inspiration from magazines, newspapers, and books and gluing them to a poster board. We recommend creating a digital version, so we have provided a template to help you get started. You can personalize with photos, quotes, and text of your choice quickly and easily.
Once you have finished your vision board, you can print it out or save it as a .jpeg. Hang it in your office, your bedroom, on your refrigerator, or make it your computer or phone background. The point is to have it somewhere you will see it everyday. This is a visual reinforcement to keep you on track to achieving your end goals.
You can make your vision board centered around business goals, personal goals, or both. The possibilities are endless. Be as creative as you’d like, set the bar high and have fun with it!
Before you make your vision board, you have to set your goals. Follow these tips to set achievable goals for the new year:
- Reflect- You can’t move forward without looking back. What worked in 2020? What didn’t? You have a year's worth of data to go off of for the new year, use it.
- Set Goals- Setting goals is extremely important if you want to make an impact this year. First, you need to prioritize what you want to achieve to best plan your time out. Make sure all of your goals are measurable so you can track your progress.
- Feedback- Once you have your goals set, bounce your ideas off team members, mentors, and leaders. Diverse perspectives should be something you embrace in all aspects of development.
- Accountability- Put measurements in place to hold yourself accountable. Try making a calendar or adding deadlines to your vision board of key milestone checkpoints. If you’re not meeting your goals by these checkpoints, it might be time to reevaluate and make changes. One of the perks of creating a digital vision board is that you can easily make edits if needed.
